The producer
To find our anniversary coffee, we decided to go back in time to discover what innovation existed when Saint was first established in 2014, that has since been further refined.
In 2014, World Barista Champion Hidenori Izaki of Japan, won the World Barista Championship with a natural processed Red Caturra from the Tarrazu Region of Costa Rica. At the time, this was a major innovation as super high quality natural processed coffees were not commonly produced in the region.
Tirra microlot, while not the exact coffee Hide served, is a result of the learnings as well as impact of that innovation back in 2014. It is the exact same variety, processing method, and region as Hide’s coffee, but in its refined form now 10 years later! Named after the Tirra tree it is shade-grown under, it comes from Hacienda Cafetelaria, a farm purchased by the cooperative to invest in coffee research and innovation for the future.
In the cup, this coffee delivers juicy flavours of black cherry, fudge, and raspberry. Syrupy, sweet, and well-rounded, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Let us know how you are brewing and what you are tasting @saintespresso.
